Job Description: IT/Social Media Specialist

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Director the IT/ Social Media Specialist will be responsible for helping grow Makoon Transition Inc.’s online presence through social media engagement and improving the experience within our online communities. The IT/Social Media Specialist must follow all the policies, Human Resource Agreements, code of ethics, practices and processes that support the mission, vision statements and goals of Makoon Transition Inc.

Responsibilities and competencies for IT/Social Media Specialist:

  • ● Must be able to provide technical assistance and support to Makoon Transition Inc. related to computer systems, hardware or software.
  • ● Will be responsible for responding to staff inquiries, running diagnostics programs, isolation problems and determining and implementing solutions with defined scope of support.
  • ● Must have a strong understanding of the Child Welfare system.
  • ● Monitor and coordinate activities on Makoon Transition Inc’s related social media properties, included but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
  • ● To oversee all the social media account’s layout and design.
  • ● To manage content creation regarding new content, video, marketing efforts through social media.
  • ● Ability to develop and execute social campaigns including video content and social advertising in accordance with our calendar.
  • ● Research, write and edit articles, news releases, web content, and other promotional materials aimed at various internal and external audiences.
  • ● Measure web traffic and monitor Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • ● Curate and develop social media calendars and manage implementation, monitoring and reporting of the social media strategy.
  • ● Respond to all staff who need technical assistance via the phone, email or face to face.
  • ● Perform troubleshooting using different diagnostic techniques and resolve technical hardware and/ software issues and provide quick resolution.
  • ● Provide and update any information on IT products and services.
  • ● Create and maintain records of problems and their resolutions.
  • ● Follow up with staff and provide feedback on the process and make recommendations on areas to improve on procedures and IT requirements.
  • ● Maintain technical documentation and service catalogue on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
  • ● Participate in the planning and implementation and growth of Makoon Transition Inc. IT department.
  • ● Set up and maintain all IT equipment and smart boards are working for Google or Zoom meetings.
  • ● To be prompt and ready for work in a positive manner.
  • ● Work professionally creating healthy relationships and do not cross unethical boundaries with clients and co-workers, be a positive role model.
  • ● Communicating any concerns or issues to the Director and Management immediately.
  • ● Do not contribute or start Lateral Violence, contribute to a healthy and safe work environment.
  • ● MUST have your own transportation to and from work.
  • ● When responding to emergency or crisis situations and/or contact 911 and the Management Team.
  • ● Must submit and successfully pass mandatory drug testing for employment.
  • ● Ensuring no drugs, alcohol or illegal substances enter the building.
  • ● Log in to and update client information and case plans on Makoon Transition Inc. Database.
  • ● Other duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • ● A technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems or related field.
  • ● Degrees in Marking, professional writing, creative communications, media production or related fields would be an advantage.
  • ● A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an IT Service Desk capacity: preferably in Google Workspace Analytics and Microsoft/Windows based environments.
  • ● In depth knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and mobile devices.
  • ● Strong knowledge of incident and problem management processes and tools.
  • ● Extensive experience in multiple social media platforms developing social media strategies and best practices.
  • ● Experience in creating short and long form video content and video editing.
  • ● In depth knowledge of Search Engine Optimization, keyword research and Google Analytics.
  • ● Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels.
  • ● A proven ability to independently identify problems and make suggestions for improvements.
  • ● Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • ● Effective communication and organizational skills with an ability to communicate with all levels within Makoon Transition Inc.
  • ● Strong verbal, written and communication skills to articulate to staff and professionals.
  • ● Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle and able to travel.
  • ● CPR First Aid and de escalation training.
  • ● Mental Health First Aid
  • ● Must follow the missions and vision statements of Makoon Transition Inc. for the success of the organization mission, vision and goal.
  • ● Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Google email and shared drives.
  • ● Respond to all work emails in a timely manner with professionalism.
  • ● Strong organized and time management skills are a must.
  • ● Must provide criminal record, adult and child abuse registry checks.
